This is a love story between a city girl and a bush boy. For both of us, the wilderness has always been part of who we are—seeping into our DNA from childhood. The smell of wood-smoke, the whistle of the rufous-naped lark, the cry of the fish eagle, the deep guttural roar of a lion, the sound of the wind over vast open plains, and the impossible sunsets still give me goose-bumps of delight. The wilderness brought Mike and me together, and when we tied the knot in 2008, it was the start of a partnership built on a
shared passion.
Together, we have travelled through Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, and Kenya and lived in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa—exploring, photographing, and gathering stories along the way. We built Verney’s Camp in Hwange National Park and Xigera Safari Lodge in the Okavango Delta. Our contemporaries are icons of the safari travel and tourism industry. Mike has hosted, flown, and guided since the late ’70s, and his passion for storytelling and sharing these wild places remains as strong as ever. Click here to read more of Mike’s story.
Safari is more than a profession for us—it is our life’s calling. We know every detail of how it operates, we take our impact seriously, and we strive to preserve the enchantment of Africa’s wilderness in its most authentic form. To this day, every time we see a leopard, we are breathless—not just at its shear magnificence and beauty, but at the magic of its presence.
